A Study on the Health Knowledge -and Health Habit of the Elementary School Children

Abstract
In order to investigate the degree of health knowledge and health habit of the elementary school children, this survey was conducted during Feb. 23~28, 1980. The population surveyed was 360 children from the elementary schools in a city and an island located in Chonnam province.
The results could be summarized as follows:
1) According to the grade, sex and regional differences, the level of health knowledge tended to show significant higher scores in the group of lower grade, of schoolgirls and of urban children, and to the each subject, tended to show higher scores on Socio-Emotional Health, Cleanliness & Hygiene and Rest & Health in that order.
2) The degree of health habit formation tended to show higher scores in the group of lower grade, of schoolboys and of island children, but these differences were not significant statistically, and it showed higher scores on Normal Body¢¥s Function & Structure, Food & Nutrition and Socio-Emotional Health in that order.
3) In the relationships between the degree of health knowledge and of health habit formation, the degree of health habit formation(68.8) showed higher tendency than that of health knowledge (61.2) in average scores, especially in the group of upper grade and of island children and in those subjects as Cleanliness & Hygiene, Food & Nutrition, First Aid & Disease Prevention and Normal Body¢¥s Function & Structre. And these differences were significasnt statistically.
